An Omen of Things to Come?

In the first race of the day, a state bred $7500 claiming event, longshot (9-1) Jayembro battled every step of the way on the front end with favored Enlistee. After what must have been an agonizing wait for 0 for 2009 trainer Jerry Cole, Jayembro earned a dead heat with the favorite.

How could this affect the day's races? The speed held up on the front end and with the abundance of speed in today's races, it may be tough for closers to get up in time to win. Once race does not a trend make, but something to follow as the day unfolds. The second race is not going to give us much of a clue as it's a Quarter Horse dash, but be aware on how speed plays as the day unfolds.
