The first Thoroughbred race is in the books and the heavy 3-5 favorite Bet Your Boots (Birdstone- Thigh High Boots - Storm Boot) takes the juvenile crown followed by Rustic Road and Tsar Tops Dancer. A very nice ride by Paul Nolan, biding his time while Gladden's Bromance burned himself on the front end. Boots class showed through as he prevailed by about 2.5 lengths.
Finish (my pick) - jockey/trainer
1. Bet Your Boots (1) - Nolan/Bethke
2. Rustic Road (3)
3. Tsar Tops Dancer (2)
$17 trifecta! Well, a win is a win. It'll be interesting to see what's up next for Boots as he did finish 3rd in an open stakes at Prairie Meadows earlier in the season and can compete outside of the state.
