I'm proud of our girl. I'm not thrilled with a third place finish, but she's just now learning to go a bit longer and she fought hard to gain third. She is also not a turf horse. She's not bad on the grass, but I think she's a better horse on the dirt. Unfortunately we have been unable to get her into a dirt race around her class level going long, so we settled for this one which gave her an unexpected six week break. We'll see what the next book brings to the table - hopefully we can get her in at this distance or longer over the dirt course in less time than six weeks and she can really strut her stuff!

After a Six Week Break, A Third
Tabby Lane, under an excellent ride from BJ Walker, finished third last night at Remington Park. She broke well and Walker angled her to the rail behind the early speed of Northern Winn and Sneaky Irish Lass. As they exited the first turn in the 7.5 furlong race Walker back off the pace a bit and was able to rate Tabby down the backside where she remained in 4th position until the turn for home. Into the lane, Sneaky Irish Lass was done, but Lady Gdanski, deep closing like she did in her last two wins, came running at Northern Winn and was able to prevail by 1.5 lengths. Northern Winn, claimed out of the Rhone barn last out for $4000, was able to stay a good five lengths clear of Tabby at the finish.
