While not a large sale there looks to be some value in there with 18 two-year olds (and two unraced three-year old) ready to hit the racetrack. State breds represented include Minnesota, Iowa, Kentucky and Florida. Last year's inaugural sale generated six winners, twenty in the money finishes and over $125,000 in earnings with many of these graduates just starting to hit their stride as three-year olds.
So if you're not heading to Baltimore that weekend, why not pack up and come buy yourself a horse ready to race? While you're at it you can catch opening weekend at Canterbury Park, one of the liveliest and most fun mid-level Thoroughbred summer meets in the country, the simulcast of the Preakness Stakes and if you come a few days early catch a Twins game in the last season at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.
For more information on the sale, contact Kay King, Executive Director of the Minnesota Thoroughbred Association at 952-496-3770 (MTASSOC@VOYAGER.NET) or visit the MTA website. I'm still not sure if we'll be active buyers in the sale, but if there are enough interested folks, we can be persuaded! I hope to see you there!
