As of Thursday night, we purchased an 80% interest in Miss Belle Express (Mocha Express - Tonya Belle - Best of Both) a nice looking Minnesota-bred. Her breeder, Janet Weber, maintains a 20% interest in the filly. Dad won back to back Lone Star Park Handicaps as well as the Ark-La-Tex Handicap and of mom's three foals, one, Traffic Belle, finished 2nd in the 2002 Northern Lights Debutante.
Missy will be boarding a trailer this weekend and heading to Florida to join Bernell Rhone's string at Tampa Bay Downs. She joins stablemate Fizzy Pop in what is hopefully going to be a nice one-two punch for our merry bands of horse owners. She heads down in nice shape and hopefully the weather will cooperate and she won't lose much time under saddle. She'll need some miles to get into "race shape" and also get gate certified. Once at TBD we'll start to get a sense of her real potential. What we know now is that she's very sweet off the track, but once she's tacked up, she's all business. She has shown power and strength when she runs and appears to have the right attitude. I'm really looking forward to that first workout that says we're on our way.
I may have shoveled snow this morning, but opening day never seemed closer. Welcome aboard, Missy!
